- Seattle - Pacific Biometrics Inc. has appointed Michael Murphy, Ph.D., as the new Senior Vice President of Operations. Murphy will play a key role in managing all aspects of the PBI service business including lab operations, client and information services, and quality assurance/control. Murphy will also work directly with the rest of the senior management team to help grow the service business.  Murphy brings to PBI more than 15 years’ experience in laboratory operations. Murphy joins PBI from Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp®), where he served as Technical Director responsible for three of its West Division labs (Northwest, Reno, and Salt Lake regions). In this role, he provided technical operation leadership for all areas of operation, as well as directed the operational re-design of the labs for cost reductions and new technology introduction. Murphy has held several leadership positions at research centers, including Laboratory Director at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Director of Professional Services at CompuLab Corporation. Murphy earned a BS in Natural Sciences from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and a doctorate in pathology and physiological chemistry from The Ohio State University.
